Most of the time we have to wear the sensible shoes, but once in while we get a chance to step outside the day-to-day grind. Once in a while there is something to be said for blissful impracticality.
I can’t be sure if it was more about seeing my old friends or being in Austin, but either way, I’ll take it, as long as it helps me keep one foot firmly in my own weirdness while the other walks from Grand Central to Park Avenue.
Along with a perfectly convenient location, the hotel was beautiful, the staff was professional, and it felt luxurious without being stuffy or pretentious.
While staying in Flåm, we took the Fjord Safari with Stop in Undredal excursion, booked through the Fjord Tours website. The tour was awesome, guide was great, and it was well worth the time and money!
The people we encountered working at Flåmsbrygga Hotell were pleasant, the location is perfect and our room had a gorgeous view from the balcony. I hope to return to Flåm one day, and would likely stay here again.
Overall, what made the Hotel Augustin stand out to me was the atmosphere created by the attentive and pleasant staff. It’s not a luxury hotel, but it is cheerful, comfortable and convenient.
As a mode of transport, the Hurtigruten suited our needs. Pros: Clean ship, adequate cabin, comfortable lounge. Cons: Rude staff, early vacating of cabins, overpriced lunch buffet.
The Clarion Collection Hotel Folketeateret reminded me of an Ikea showroom – looks good on the surface, but the materials are cheap and they’re kind of trying too hard. But location is very good.
The Hotel Bristol in Oslo offered us the ability to easily walk to sights and transportation, while providing a comfortable place to rest at the end of the day.
How often to you get to slide down rippling plastic hills from 60 feet above Times Square – laughing, screaming, lights flashing, music blasting? Another fun day in NYC.
What you’ll read from me is not the life of a traveling nomad but simply a regular girl who works the corporate grind most days, taking every opportunity to go to new places, see new things and learn as much as I can.
Docelunas was a great choice for Jaco – a tranquil oasis of solitude, away from the uninviting downtown area. But they seriously dropped the ball at their restaurant.
Nayara exceeded my expectations in every way. It was romantic, luxurious, beautiful, and every member of the staff that we encountered provided exceptional service.
I don’t how to explain other than to say that they have a pig in the logo, they served on Styrofoam plates, and overall the place seemed like what I expect from a little barbecue joint.
